LUFFE TALK

#1 April 30, 2024

by Lotte & Tom Andersen - Opalen / Luffe 45 #10

Our Luffe-journey started in the spring of 2000 when we took over a very well maintained 20 years old Luffe 37.

In the beginning we did not know the Luffe family, but we sailed a lot and met other Luffe-sailors especially on Anholt in the weeks 29-31 during the summer holiday period. We recognized most of the Luffe sailors were very open and friendly, and not difficult to get in contact with – so this was our first steps into the Luffe family.

In 2004 we fell in love with a used Luffe 40, but it was sold so fast that we missed it  – so what now?

I (Tom) joined a friend who was also a Luffe 37 owner, for the Luffe Open Yard in 2004 (my first visit at the yard) and first time saw the drawings of the brand new Luffe 40.04 – and was totally blown away.

In the spring of 2005 we joined a test sailing in Kolding and the day after we ordered Luffe 40.04 no 7 – for delivery in the spring of 2006. As we immediately afterwards sold our 37’ we had a long summer in front of us, without a boat.

In the early spring 2006 we took over our new boat and it was a fantastic day. During the entire building process, I (Tom) drove to the yard every week to follow the progress and started to get into the Luffe family feeling. Everybody at the yard was very friendly and Else and Oluf always had time for a cup of coffee – and we also started to meet other Luffe 40.04 owners to-be, who was in the building process, too.

In 2016 we sold the 40.04 and ordered a new Luffe 45 – which now became the new dream-boat. It was delivered in the spring of 2017, and we have been the lucky owners ever since.

In the beginning I (Tom) sailed several races but during the last 10 years we only sail cruising and a local 2-star race as a couple (Lotte and Tom).

You don’t have to be the owner of a new Luffe to become and be a member of the family – everybody is welcome and every time we meet at Luffe yacht, or during our summer vacation sailing, we start talking to our new friends, share experiences and good Luffe stories.

We also experienced that there are always open doors at Luffe Yacht and the owners (Else and Oluf) are always ready for a little chat – and the same is the entire crew at the yard.

Hope our story can inspire other Luffe sailors to also enjoy the Luffe-family.

Best regards

Lotte and Tom Andersen, Luffe 45 no 10 – Opalen.
